Pool Deck Coatings in Orlando

The concrete around your pool takes bare feet, splashing water, pool chemicals and the full Florida sun. We coat pool decks as their own kind of project — starting with the condition of the deck and how your family uses it, not with a garage system moved outdoors.

What we look at on a pool deck

A deck around a pool lives a different life from an indoor floor. Before we recommend anything, we go through these questions with you.

  • Wet, barefoot trafficKids running, wet feet and pool toys. How much texture the surface needs is one of the first things we discuss.
  • Sun and heatAn uncovered deck sits in direct sun most of the year. Screened areas and shaded corners behave differently.
  • Pool water and chemicalsSplash-out from chlorinated or salt pools, rain and runoff all reach the surface every day.
  • The existing surfaceBare concrete, an old acrylic texture or a worn coating each call for different preparation.
  • Edges and transitionsCoping, drains, steps and the line where the deck meets the lanai or the lawn.

Signs your deck is ready for a new surface

Pool decks rarely fail all at once. These are the signs homeowners tend to notice first.

  • A chalky, faded finishColor that rubs off on towels and swimsuits, or a surface that looks washed out next to the house.
  • Rough spots on bare feetWorn texture that scrapes toes, or patches where the old finish has broken away.
  • Stains that won't wash outRings under planters, rust marks from chair legs, dark streaks near the skimmer or downspouts.
  • Hairline cracksFine cracks spreading from corners, joints and the edge of the pool cage footer.
  • Patches from old repairsMismatched squares where someone fixed one area and never blended it in.
  • A deck that no longer matchesNew screens, pavers or pool interior, and a deck that now looks dated beside them.

Full flake or quartz, sealed with polyaspartic

Any of our systems can technically go anywhere, but around a pool the two we recommend most are full flake and quartz. Both are finished with a polyaspartic top coat.

Full flake

Decorative chips scattered in a dense layer for a speckled, granite-like look with grip underfoot. Blends can pick up the tones of the coping, the screen frame or the house.

Quartz

Colored quartz granules broadcast into resin for a fine, sand-like texture that is also slip-resistant — a natural fit for steps, sun-shelf edges and the walkway to the spa.

If your deck already has a texture or a coating on it, tell us what you know about it when you call — its age, what was applied and where it is failing. That changes the preparation and the price.

Preparation comes first — outdoors too

A coating only holds as well as the surface underneath it. On a pool deck that means taking the time to open up and clean the concrete before anything goes down.

  1. Evaluate the deck. Condition of the concrete, any existing finish, cracks, drains and how water leaves the surface.
  2. Grind the surface. Bare concrete, an old texture or a worn coating is always ground down first, then every trace of dust is vacuumed and blown off.
  3. Install the system. Base coat, full flake or quartz broadcast, then the polyaspartic top coat, finished around coping and drains.

Before we arrive: please move loungers, tables, planters and pool toys off the deck. The surface has to be completely clear for us to work.

Planning the work around your pool

A backyard is a busy place. When you call, it helps to think through a few practical points: who needs to reach the backyard while we work, where the pump, heater and pool equipment sit, whether pets or children use the space daily, and whether a party or pool-service visit is already on the calendar.

Tell us, too, whether the deck is inside a screen cage or open to the yard, and which side gets the afternoon sun. Those details shape the scope before anyone talks about price.

Let your pool-service company, landscaper and pest-control technician know the dates, and mention any doggy door, gate latch or alarm on the screen door so nobody wanders onto fresh work.

Pool deck terms, in plain English

Coping
The cap stones or rounded edge around the rim of the pool. The deck finish stops cleanly at it.
Skimmer lid
The round cover over the skimmer basket, set into the deck near the waterline.
Deck drain
The narrow channel or grates that carry splash and rainwater away from the pool.
Expansion joint
The flexible seam between the coping and the deck slab that lets both move with temperature.
Screen enclosure
The aluminum frame and mesh — the "pool cage" — whose footer sits on the deck edge.

Salt, chlorine, spa and splash zones

Tell us whether the pool runs on a salt cell or traditional chlorine, and whether there's an attached spa with a spillover, a sun shelf, a waterfall, bubblers or deck jets. Each feature throws water in its own pattern, and those splash zones are where a deck finish works hardest. A pool heater, solar panels on the roof or a fenced equipment pad also affect where we can stage materials.

Pool deck, lanai or both?

In many Orlando homes the pool deck sits inside a screened lanai, and the two surfaces run into each other. We can plan them as one continuous project or treat them separately — a covered lanai without a pool is a different job from an open deck.

Pool deck pricing

Call for pricing. We don't publish a per-square-foot range for pool decks: deck size, the existing surface, repairs and the preparation required change the scope from one yard to the next.

Our published price levels for interior and garage systems are on the pricing page, with an estimate calculator.

Pool deck coating questions

Yes. Pool deck coatings are one of the outdoor services we offer across the Orlando area. We start by looking at the deck: the condition of the concrete, what is on it today, and how the space is used.

Yes — both full flake and quartz leave a gripping texture underfoot, which is why we suggest them around water.

Installation time depends on the size of the deck and the system. After that: light foot traffic after 72 hours, and full cure in 7 days. We'll give you the schedule with your estimate.

Pool decks are quoted individually — call for pricing. Size, the existing surface, repairs and preparation drive the number.

Tell us about your pool deck

Roughly how big is it, what is on it now, and is it inside a screened lanai? A few details on the phone are enough to talk through options and pricing.
